Dd wrt ssh tunnel3/24/2023 I am completely open to suggestions as to another way to accomplish this. Get the router and flash it with ddwrt ( I prefer ddwrt). From everything I researched a reverse SSH setup is the way to accomplish this. Check DDWRT wiki or OPENWRT forums for list of compatible routers. I tried weaved but it didn't seem to work AND I'm not a fan of the 30 minute limit. I'd like to remotely control the desktop of the Raspberry Pi and do so without the remote site having to make any changes to their router. Port Forwarding in DD-Wrt can probably do what you want it to do if Im. I can connect the Raspberry Pi at the remote site to the local DD-WRT router (at least I'm pretty sure I get the standard looking linux prompt when I log on but have no idea how to check in the RR-WRT router that it's actually connected) but that's where I get completely lost.Įdit: The idea here is this. I have heard a little bit about ssh tunneling but it seems odd to be using Putty. I have the DD-WRT router already configured for DDNS. RPi-Router-DD-WRT Router- (Local Network) I've been attempting this for 3 straight hours now and have no idea where I'm going wrong.ĭefault_user8 wrote:Can you map out your network? Where is the ddwrt router, and which side is the pi on the lab or wan? And as for ddns, ddwrt will handle that for you with several different free services. Security Firewall Impede WAN DoS/Bruteforce Limit SSH Access Apply Settings Save This option inserts some iptables rules to drop requests on the WAN SSH port after exceeding 4 attempts within 60 seconds. I also want to make this as easy as possible to deploy (which means not setting up any port forwarding on the other connection's router). DD-WRT provides an option to limit SSH brute force attacks. I'm also using the reverse SSH as I don't want to have to create several different dynamic host accounts to constantly update the dynamic IP addresses. ![]() After that, I've no idea how to connect to the SSH tunnel already established to the router.Ĭan someone point me to a guide that accomplishes this? I tried using Weaved but I couldn't get it working AND it limits me to a 30 minute session. I *think* I have the reverse SSH working (where the Pi connects to the router running DD-WRT) as I can successfully log into the router (I followed the directions for that here. So far, I've been able to install XRDP and get that working. Once connected to the router, I would be able to access the raspberry pi via XRDP. I have been searching for several hours now for a guide as to how to configure the Raspberry Pi to initiate a reverse SSH connection to a router running DD-WRT.
